• Enhancement: New Data Type added to the Data Manager of Printer QR Code URLs.

  Bundle: Core availability

  Benefiting Persona: IT admin, and end-users using the PrinterLogic mobile app.

  Description: A new Data Type has been added to the Data Manager. This type, titled Printer QR Code URLs, is an export only option that will download all generic QR code URLs for printers found within your Tree View.
  
  The purpose of these QR codes is to be used with the mobile PrinterLogic App as a quick way to release held print jobs by scanning the code at the printer.
  
  These downloaded URLs can be used with a QR code generator of your choice to customize the code to include things like an image. For more information on PrinterLogic QR codes visit our QR Code Options topic.

• An issue causing SNMP data to not report completely if using workstations to monitor and report has been resolved. - PI-46675
• An issue when configuring SMTP or email printing, when sending a test email during the configuration, causing an error of "Unable to test SMTP connection" to be displayed even though the connection was successful has been resolved. - PI-47520
• An issue where the PrinterApps Log indicated that the CPA is "Adding badge reader configuration" even though "Enable badge scan authentication" is unchecked was an indicator that the system is checking for the activation of all settings. Work was completed to modify the wording to make the process more transparent. - PI-47539

• An issue when using Direct Email Guest Printing, causing the job to be sent to the printer but not printed and then go back to the release portal and continue to be held, is caused by a specific setting in the Canon Generic Plus PCL6 driver. The particular setting is under the device settings section in the printer's properties. Under other settings, the "Spooling at Host" setting should be set to Disabled. - PI-52278

  Description: Two options are now available to assist with easily viewing the Tree View. First, a slider bar is now at the bottom of the tree view. How do I access the MySQL database in the Virtual Appliance to run this query?

More detailed instructions can be found in the PrinterLogic Knowledge Base.

1. Download and install a MySQL editor of your choice (e.g. MySQL, MySQL Workbench, HeidiSQL, PHPMyAdmin).
2. Run the MySQL Editor.
3. Set the host to the IP address of your Virtual Appliance.
4. Set the user/username to admin.
5. Set the password to the password that was designated during the configuration of the Virtual Appliance.

Database password can be found in the secrets.env file on the share drive. This will be listed as the DB_PASSWORD parameter.

New Support:

PrinterLogic now offers support for Red Hat 8. You can find the new Red Hat 8 deployable client package in Tools Settings Client. The Client installation instructions are in the Install the Client on Red Hat topic. Red Hat 7 and 8 will share the same client number.

  • Description: Added functionality to prevent the CPA from being reinstalled after a Virtual Appliance host upgrade.
• Feature: Ability to purge all historical print job titles from the database.

  • Problem Solved: Due to potentially sensitive information in print job titles, You can remove titles to mitigate exposure.
  • Description: On the Printing Settings Tab located at Tools Settings Printing, in the Print Jobs section, there is a setting to Include print job titles in reports. If this is enabled, print job titles are stored in the database for reporting purposes. If the option is not selected, then titles are not displayed in reports. The choice is now there to Purge all historical records of print job titles from the database if used in the past, and for security reasons, you no longer want them saved in the database.
• Feature: Updated the User Experience on the Authorized Devices screen.

  • Problem Solved: Make it easier to find devices and optimizes performance when loading the page.
  • Description: On the Authorized Devices screen the user experience has changed by added functionality of a search bar to quickly locate specific authorized devices. Additionally, the page now only displays up to the first 100 devices reducing latency issues experienced by admins with several devices.
• Feature: Added feature for when Epic Connector and LPD Service that gives the option to specify a shared storage location.

  • Description: The ability to specify a shared storage location for service client redundancy.

  • Description: A new setting is available that when selected gives the option to make failed print jobs, due to a timeout, into a held print job still available for secure release.

• New Setting:

  • Tools Settings Portal Enable "Automatic Self-service Portal and Release Portal" Login

    By selecting this option, the Self-service Portal and Release Portal will automatically log in the user based on who the Client recognizes as logged into the machine. Conversely, if the option is deselected, users will be required to log in each time they want to access one of the portals. It is important to note that enabling this feature will prompt you to acknowledge a modal warning before proceeding. For existing customers, current behavior will be the same unless they disable this setting. For new customers, this setting will be disabled by default, with the option to enable it if desired. Additional information can be found in the

    Portal Settings topic.

    Enabling this feature grants an authenticated user with valid server credentials the ability to impersonate another user. This impersonation allows the user to view print jobs that are currently held, as well as prematurely release or redirect them to accessible printers within your organization. It is important to consider the risk of enabling this feature, as it introduces the possibility of unauthorized access and potential misuse of print jobs by the impersonator.

Build 22.0.818: January 10th, 2023

NOTICE: If using Off-Network Printing (ONP) with a self-hosted external gateway, it is a known issue that this Virtual Appliance host, version 22.0.818, causes an error of "BadCertificate," causing ONP not to function. However, this issue will be fixed if after upgrading to this host, you then update to the latest application release.

1. Download and install a MySQL editor of your choice (e.g. MySQL, MySQL Workbench, HeidiSQL, PHPMyAdmin).
2. Run the MySQL Editor.
3. Set the host to the IP address of your Virtual Appliance.
4. Set the user/username to admin.
5. Set the password to the password that was designated during the configuration of the Virtual Appliance.

Database password can be found in the secrets.env file on the share drive. This will be listed as the DB_PASSWORD parameter.

• The Printer Apps service has been updated to a 64 bit service. This will improve the performance and scalability of the service. The Printer Apps service will not function on a 32-bit OS.
• Copy/Scan Tracking is now available on supported Lexmark devices.

• When configuring Simple Badge Release service on a Windows service client, a Windows firewall rule will automatically be added so that port 31990 will be accessible. This function removes the previously required step of manually adding a Windows firewall rule. However, if your organization has a GPO that supersedes local Windows firewall rules, you must ensure that TCP 31990 is allowed on the Windows service client for the Simple Badge Reader service to function.
• Using Simple Badge Release with RFIDeas Ethernet 241 devices now requires firmware version 4.01.3.1 to function properly. More information on this can be found in the PrinterLogic Knowledge Base.
