Release Notes 2024

There are two types of releases for the PrinterLogic Virtual Appliance. Update the application layer using the Update button in the Admin Console, or download the file from the Application section below to perform a manual update. Updates to the host layer require the download of a new file, which is found in the Host section below. The host update also replaces the application layer with the latest application build available when the host was released.

Application & Host Compatibility Information (VMDK/VHD/OVA)

New Features and Enhancements

  • New Feature:API Print Service

    Bundle: Output Management

    Benefiting Persona: IT Admins

Description: The PrinterLogic API Print Service can give control back to print administrators using Epic or other LPD applications, allowing them to fully control their print environment. Doing so eliminates the need to install print queues on your source application altogether and allows moving to a driver-less print model, reducing the work required to maintain the print environment.

There are two places you’ll need to configure settings for the API Print Service. In the PrinterLogic Admin Console and inside your source applications administrative settings.

  • An issue with the Ricoh CPA not connecting fully after device wakeup and displaying a 500 or Login Service Unavailable error has been reported. PI-57582
  • An issue with the Delete Provisioning Data button not consistently removing data has been reported. PI-57580
  • An issue with print jobs being associated with the local user rather than the IdP user has been reported. PI-57525
  • An issue with custom roles with View permission to the Apps tab still allowing CPA actions through the CPA Manager has been reported. PI-57524
  • An issue with custom roles assigned the View permission for the printer Apps tab not displaying the page settings has been reported. PI-57523

  • An issue with the Printer Info tab's SNMP data not updating after applying a new IP address to the device has been reported. PI-57183
  • When importing Tree Structure data using the Data Manager, objects get uploaded as Folder objects instead of entries in the "Object Type" column on the CSV. The TCP/IP Printer report can be used to upload printer data as a workaround. PI-56899
  • On some Ricoh devices with the CPA installed in SSO Provider mode, if scanning a document using the native printer scanner and opening the PrinterLogic CPA after the scan, a modal asks, "Scan Next Page or Complete?" Selecting either option results in odd behavior requiring selecting the "Home" option and going back into the CPA. PI-56876
  • When using Scan To Cloud to preset scan locations, the CPA shows that the scan was successful, but the scan is failing, resulting in an email to the user informing them of the failed scan and a log error of "Error 1227 (42000): Access level insufficient for request": forbidden." PI-56701
  • Some HP printers are showing ýè at the beginning of the Firmware Version number on the Printer Info Tab. PI-56537
  • On printer object's status page, the "Color" field shows "No" for HP printers even if the printer supports color per the driver used. PI-56525
  • When looking at the SNMP status page for a printer, the hostname is being displayed in the IP Address field. PI-56509
  • On the Authorized Devices screen, if multiple pages of devices exist, when searching for a specific device, some customers are experiencing no results displayed despite the searched device showing in the Workstations report. PI-56310
  • The sessions table is not consistently purging old data causing the table to have a large amount of data stored. PI-56127
  • When using a Chromebook and releasing a print job to some Xerox printer models the print job is failing to print. PI-56118
  • When using the KyoceraCPA with or without SSO, once the CPA is installed, when attempting to open it on the printer a white screen is displayed. In the case of SSO enabled, there is also a spinning wheel displayed with "Please Wait" next to it. The CPA does not open. PI-56063
  • When using an FQDN for a printer instead of an IP address, the printer apps service is experiencing a caching issue, causing an error during CPA installation. Changing the FQDN to an IP address will install correctly as a workaround. PI-56027
  • When removing a driver from a printer in the Driver/Profile Repository, the Profile button remains active, causing confusion due to an error of "You must select a driver" being presented if the Profile button is selected. PI-55801
  • When using the CPA in Provider mode on some HP devices, the tray selection option is locked to "Any Size" instead of allowing users to select the necessary paper size. PI-55792
  • When using PingFed and PIN Authentication, trying to set a PIN in the Self-service Portal is causing an error. PI-55648
  • When given the role of Non-Administrator and access to the Data Manager, users can see all printers, although they should only see printers they are given access to at the assigned level. PI-55517
  • Despite disabling the option to show client options in the system tray, pull and email printing options are still being displayed. PI-55016
  • After turning off the setting to "Enable 'Install Client' link" in Tools > Settings >Portal, when navigating to the Self-Service Portal and attempting to login with an IdP, the client exe file is still downloaded. PI-54790
  • When using a Chromebook and printing to some Konica Minolta printers (4000i), the print job prints in unintelligible letters and characters. PI-54781
  • When using some special characters in the name of a folder object in the tree view, such as "&," the character is not displaying correctly in the tree view. PI-54698
  • If a service client object is deleted from the admin console and all folders are removed on the end machine, the folders are being rebuilt on the end machine, causing the service client to still show in the database despite not showing in the admin console. PI-54688
  • When running reports filtered at a sub-folder level on a folder using a special character such as "&," the report returns no data. PI-54646
  • If the IP address of a printer is manually changed to the wrong address on a user machine and the correct IP address is set in the Admin Console, during a client refresh, the end user machine is not reverting the address back to the correct address found in the Admin Console. PI-54298
  • When creating local users in the Admin Console with a valid email address, the email addresses are not being created in the database, causing email alerts not to be sent to designated users. PI-54296
  • When using Scan To - Email in conjunction with Xerox printers, latency is experienced, and sometimes pressing buttons on the screen must be done multiple times. PI-54050

  • When a user sends a Scan To email job from the printers native app, and then logs out, if the job is still sending, and another user tries to sign into the same printer using the PrinterLogic CPA, they are getting an "Authentication Failure" message until the job finishes sending. PI-52792
  • When using Azure and badge authentication and mapping the same attribute of AuthPinUser for both the badge number and the PIN number, the Badge ID is not updating. PI-52700
  • On some Xerox printers, when using the SSO Provider option, badge scanning is failing after firmware update to 119.011.033.15000. PI-51782
  • When running the Print Job Records report filtered by user, the "Full Name" column does not consistently show all user names. PI-51162
  • When using LDAP in conjunction with Identity Sync to synchronize groups, users are appearing in identities, while the groups are not being synchronized as expected. PI-51117
  • When logging in with an IdP to the self-service Portal or Admin Console, a message is quickly displayed showing "The server returned an invalid response." This message IS expected behavior, but is showing for a longer than normal period of time for some customers, causing some concern. However, the login is still happening once the message goes away.
