Updates

  • The Printer Apps service has been updated to a 64 bit service. This will improve the performance of the service and allow it to function better. Anyone running a 32 bit OS will be effected as the Printer Apps service will no longer run.

Updates

  • New versions of the PrinterLogic Chrome browser extension and Edge Chromium browser extension, have been released. Our extensions update automatically and will be compatible with Google's latest standard of only supporting Manifest 3.0 as of January 2023. To ensure there is no interruption when using these new extensions ensure you are compliant by:

    • Running Version 88 or later of the Chrome or Chromium-based Microsoft Edge browser (As of this publish date, Chrome is currently on Version 108).

New Features

  • When configuring Simple Badge Release, port 31990 will automatically open when enabled, removing the previously required step of manually opening it.
  • Using Simple Badge Release with RFIDeas Ethernet 241 devices now requires firmware version 4.XX to function properly. More information on this can be found in the PrinterLogic Knowledge Base.
  • A feature was added for use when Epic Connector and LPD Service that gives the option to specify a shared storage location for use with service client redundancy.
  • A feature was added for use when Epic Connector and LPD Service that gives the option to make failed print jobs due to a timeout into a held print job still available for secure release.

PrinterLogic Third-Party Vendor Policy

PrinterLogic works with third-party products listed below—so long as the vendor continues to support them. However, when they reach “end of life” (as defined by the vendor), we can no longer support them. If this occurs, we suggest you upgrade to a newer version. We define third-party software support as “mainstream support,” not any extended support options a company like Microsoft may offer.

New Feature

Print Quota Management

Print Quota Management is part of the optional Cost Management Bundle. Contact your sales rep for licensing information or to schedule a demo.

Print Quota Management gives administrators control over how much printing can be done by a group or an individual and can be adjusted as needed at either level. In addition, these printing controls can be tracked by either volume or price. This feature helps manage and reduce print volume, increases user accountability, and lowers costs and environmental impact. Quota Management is part of our optional Cost Management Bundle. You can find additional information in our FAQ document or by visiting our Quota Management configuration documentation. To request a demo, contact your Customer Success Manager.

Known issues:

  • For QM to function as designed, you must use a PCL or PCLXL printer driver. In some cases, proprietary or device-specific drivers may not allow QM to work correctly.
  • Currently, the PrinterLogic Linux Client counts every print job as one page, potentially causing inaccurate quota tracking. A fix for this is in current development.
  • Printers with Pull Printing enabled are presenting errors. A fix for this is in development.
  • Secure printing using the Windows client is not deducting quota. A fix for this is in development.
  • The QM reporting feature is still under development and is scheduled for a Q3 release.

Update

  • Off-Network Printing now offers the ability to set default printing behavior. Printing can be set to:
    • Off-Network Only - Printing is always done via off-network.
    • Direct IP Primary - Direct IP printing will be attempted and if unseccesful, off-network printing will initiate.
    • Off-Network Primary - Off-network printing will be attempted and if unseccesful, direct IP printing will initiate.

  • The screen on the CPA is now more reactive on smaller printer screen sizes allowing better visibility and providing a better user experience.

New Features

  • Control Panel Application (CPA) Manager is now available in SaaS applications of PrinterLogic. The CPA Manager is a tool found on your Service Client object on the Printer Apps tab. The CPA Manager is a quick reference to see information regarding the CPA in your environment. More information can be found in the CPA Manager topic.
  • Enterprise Data Warehouse is now available in the SaaS application as part of the Output Management Bundle. EDW is a feature that will allow data mining for use within several BI tools for granular reporting. EDW will require the use of a BI tool provided by the customer. For more information on this feature, see the documentation on EDW. The EDW is part of the Output Management bundle. See the Licensing & Pricing FAQ for more information on the available bundles.

New Features

  • The Identities Tool has been added for SaaS instances that are using a single IdP. For SaaS instances that are using concurrent IdPs, the Identity Management Tool is used for a similar purpose. In both tools, information can be gathered on users that are provisioned by your Identity Provider.
  • CPA support for Fuji Xerox printers is now available in PrinterLogic SaaS. A list of Fuji Xerox printers supported can be found at our CPA Support page. For details on installing, see our documentation on the Fuji Xerox CPA.

  • Added a client override to handle a specific condition where Chromebooks are connecting to a Windows server (RDS or VDI) that allows the 'hostname' detected in the virtual session to be treated as an AssetID or a Serial number or both. This override will assist with deployments. - PI-41633
