New Feature
Kyocera CPA 2.0 Support
CPA 2.0 support for Kyocera printers is now available. For a list of supported Kyocera printers see the PrinterLogic CPA page. For information on configuring it, see the Kyocera - CPA 2.0 documentation.
Print Quota Management
Print Quota Management is part of the optional Cost Management Bundle. Contact your sales rep for licensing information or to schedule a demo.
Print Quota Management (QM) gives administrators control over how much printing can be done by a group or an individual and can be adjusted as needed at either level. In addition, these printing controls can be tracked by either volume or price. This feature helps manage and reduce print volume, increases user accountability, and lowers costs and environmental impact. Quota Management is part of our optional Cost Management Bundle. You can find additional information in our FAQ document or by visiting our Quota Management configuration documentation. To request a demo, contact your Customer Success Manager.
Known issues:
- For QM to function as designed, you must use a PCL or PCLXL printer driver. In some cases, proprietary or device-specific drivers may not allow QM to work correctly.
- Currently, the PrinterLogic Linux Client counts every print job as one page, potentially causing inaccurate quota tracking. A fix for this is in current development.
- Printers with Pull Printing enabled are presenting errors. A fix for this is in development.
- Secure printing using the Windows client is not deducting quota. A fix for this is in development.
- The QM reporting feature is still under development and is scheduled for a Q3 release.

Security Update
Recently, an out-of-bounds vulnerability assigned to CVE-2021-44142 was disclosed in Samba versions before 4.13.17. This flaw involves an out-of-bounds heap read-write event where remote attackers could execute arbitrary code as root on affected Samba installations using the VFS module vfs_fruit.
The specific flaw exists in EA metadata parsing when opening files in smbd, which is the Samba server daemon that provides file sharing and printing services to Windows clients. Access as a user with write access to a file's extended attributes is required to exploit this vulnerability. A guest or unauthenticated user could do this—if such users are allowed write access to file extended attributes.
Vasion has removed the VA_Fruit module from the PrinterLogic Virtual Appliance. Therefore, we recommend that PrinterLogic Virtual Appliance customers with host versions 1.0.735 and earlier update their Virtual Appliance Host to this version (1.0.742), which includes the latest application release as well.
New Features

- Enterprise Data Warehouse (EDW) is now available in the Virtual Appliance application as part of the Output Management Bundle. EDW is a feature that allows data mining for use within several BI tools for granular reporting. EDW requires the use of a BI tool provided by the customer. For more information on this feature, see the documentation on Enterprise Data Warehouse (EDW). The EDW is part of the Output Management bundle. See the Licensing & Pricing FAQ for more information on the available bundles.
- Control Panel Application (CPA) Manager is now available in Virtual Appliance applications of PrinterLogic. The CPA Manager is a tool found on your Service Client object on the Printer Apps tab. The CPA Manager is a quick reference to see information regarding the CPA in your environment. More information can be found in the CPA Manager topic.
