SNMP without a Service Client

In PrinterLogic environments not using advanced features, Service Clients are less typical. To gather SNMP information without using a Service Client, PrinterLogic provides the option for letting the installed clients report SNMP data on the printers installed on that device.

Enable the option for Have each workstation report SNMP data to PrinterLogic for installed printers on Tools then Settings then General in the SNMP Settings section. If this option is enabled, the Use a service client to collect SNMP information option must be deselected.

Because there is no Service Client in play, the other SNMP Settings become grayed out with this option enabled. The SNMP v1/v2/v3 settings only apply to configurations using a Service Client.

Using this option, the PrinterLogic client installed on workstations gathers basic SNMP information from printers installed on that workstation. Each time the client checks in, it updates the SNMP data for the installed printers. Any printers not installed on workstations with the client will not have SNMP data gathered.

  5. For PrinterLogic SaaS customers, there are two options for gathering SNMP information. It is important to note that having both options enabled may result in errors that impact reporting. When configuring SNMP, only enable one option or the other.

  6. (Optional) Configure the settings in SNMP Alerts section if you are using the default alert setting in the Alerts tab. For more information reference Alerts.
  7. Click Save.
