You should completely back up your Virtual Appliance database before performing any upgrade procedure.
Application Update Instructions
Please refer to the Application & Host Compatibility Information table above prior to upgrading the application to be sure the host build you are running is supported.
Automated Update
- In the PrinterLogic Admin Console, go to: Support & Training About PrinterLogic
-
Click Update Now to update the Application build.
The automatic update downloads the package from our online update service over TCP 443.
If there is no response when clicking the Update Now button, verify the Virtual Appliance's DNS requirements (and SSL requirements, if applicable) are in place.-
DNS and SSL Requirements
DNS Requirements:
- Identify a FQDN to use for the Virtual Appliance (i.e., printerlogic.mycompany.com).
- Create an A record in DNS (i.e., printerlogic.mycompany.com) that points to the IP address of the Virtual Appliance.
- Create a CNAME record in DNS (i.e., *.printerlogic.mycompany.com) that points to the A record above (i.e., printerlogic.mycompany.com)
SSL Certificate Requirements:
- The SubjectAlternativeName extension must list the two DNS entries above (i.e., printerlogic.mycompany.com and *.printerlogic.mycompany.com). In depth information can be found in the Create and Verify SSL Certificates for the Virtual Appliance document.
-
Manual Update
- Download the .gpg appliance update file.
- Reference Release Notes 2024 to download application .gpg files.
- Connect to the Virtual Appliance share drive.
-
Open the .updates folder.
If the .updates fold does not exist, create one.
- Place the downloaded .gpg file in folder.
- Right-click in the .updates folder.
- Select New Text Document.
- Name that document .update.txt
- Edit the .update.txt file.
- Type in the version number you are updating to; it will match the beginning portion of the .gpg file (example: 20.0.1305).
- Select: File Save As.
- Change the Save as type to All Files.
- Name the file .update.ready
- Verify the file Type column for the file (.update.ready) shows as READY File.
- Rename the file to .update
-
Verify the file Type column for the file (.update) shows as UPDATE File.
A LOCK File will appear that can be ignored.
- Once the file is Saved as an UPDATE File, the Virtual Appliance will start to update automatically using the .gpg file. To confirm the update progress, open the VM console of the Virtual Appliance and you will see STATUS: updating. Once the update is complete, you will see STATUS: running.
- Verify the update was successful by logging into the admin console.
- Navigate to Support & Training About PrinterLogic to ensure the Appliance Version number matches the version you just updated to.
