Host Upgrade Path

The Virtual Appliance contains two layers: the Application and the Host. The Application layer includes an update feature from within the Admin Console, but the Host requires acquiring a new file manually. Here we guide you through obtaining the necessary files and the steps to upgrade your Virtual Appliance Host version. The Host update also replaces the Application layer with the latest Application build available when the Host was released. Reference Current Downloads for the latest release files.

Virtual Appliance Host Location

The upgrade path depends on where you host your Virtual Appliance. Use the appropriate Host location below to get started.

AWS

Your Vasion representative must share the new AMI. Currently, it is not available as a Public AMI. Your Vasion representative will need your AWS Account Number, usually located in the drop-down next to your username in the upper right.

Azure

The latest Virtual Appliance Host version is available in the Azure Marketplace. Please contact your Systems Engineer (SE) or our Support Team for assistance with Host upgrades.

Hypervisor

Vasion provides four file types for hypervisors: OVA, VMDK, VHD, and QCOW2. The upgrade steps are generally similar, but your current Host version may require an incremental upgrade before moving to the latest version.

Locate your Host build version in the Admin Console (Support & Training About PrinterLogic) and select the appropriate range from below.

Host Versions 1.0.756 & Earlier

Internal Database

A database dump is required to upgrade to the latest version from Host 1.0.756 and earlier. Please contact our Support Team for assistance.

External Database

A database dump is required to upgrade to the latest version from Host 1.0.756 and earlier. Please contact your Systems Engineer (SE) for assistance.

Host Version 1.0.757-22.0.862

Internal Database

Environments on Host builds 1.0.757-22.0.862 must perform an incremental upgrade to Host version 22.0.913 before upgrading to the latest version. Reference Host Upgrade for steps.

Or, a database dump lets you upgrade directly to the latest version. Please contact our Support Team for assistance.

External Database

A database dump is required to upgrade to the latest version from Host builds 1.0.757-22.0.862. Please contact your Systems Engineer (SE) for assistance.

Host Versions 22.0.893+

Host versions after 22.0.893 can upgrade directly to the latest version. Reference Host Upgrade for steps.
