With PrinterLogic, badge IDs and PINs are either stored within the IdP An identity provider (abbreviated IdP or IDP) is a system entity that creates, maintains, and manages identity information for an organization that can be authenticated by a computer system or network. IdP PINs and Badge IDs
When an end-user scans a known badge or enters a PIN, the Control Panel Application on the printer receives the data and sends it to PrinterLogic, along with the ID of the printer. The data is compared using the same connection used to authenticate users. The associated Fully Qualified Domain Name The complete domain name for a specific computer or host on the Internet and consists of two parts: the hostname and the domain name. is sent back to the printer if the authentication is successful.
The Control Panel Application then displays the Release page, with any Pull Print / Secure Release print jobs associated with that user.
Database PINs and Badge IDs
With badge IDs or PINs stored in the PrinterLogic database, the process is similar, except the data is compared with stored information found in the database. The FQDN is sent back to the printer if the authentication is successful.
The Control Panel Application then displays the Release page, with any Pull Print / Secure Release print jobs associated with that user.
Badge ID not Found
When the badge ID or PIN is not found, a response is sent back to the Control Panel Application, indicating it is an unknown badge or invalid pin. The Control Panel Application then presents a screen allowing the end-user to enter their LDAP username and password.
