Self-service Portal Guide

The Self-service Portal is a tool where users can self-install their printers, alleviating the need for IT assistance. The portal installs both the printer and the associated driver with a simple click, and you're ready to start printing.

Requirements

To use the Self-service Portal you need the following information:

PrinterLogic client installed - The PrinterLogic client must be installed, and the associated browser extension installed and enabled to access the portal.

Self-service Portal URL — if you don’t have your company’s Self-service Portal URL, and you can’t access the Add Printers client option in your system tray or Start Menu, contact your IT admin.

Name / Location of your printer — The Self-service Portal shows the folders and printers available for you to install and, if configured, a map with your office layout and printer locations. If the printer you want to install is not listed or is not on the map contact your IT admin.

Access the Self-service Portal

Admins provide you with the portal URL to bookmark and use, but there are other methods for accessing the portal once you have the PrinterLogic client installed.

  • Click on the PrinterLogic icon in the System Tray/Tool Bar (Windows/Mac).
  • Click the Add Printer icon from the Start Menu (Windows).
    • Both of these options can be disabled. If the PrinterLogic client is installed, but you don't see these options or know the URL, contact your IT admin.

The Release Portal

The Release Portal is only available if the environment is using the Pull Printing or Secure Release Printing features. The Release Portal is the web interface where held jobs are released to printers. If your company uses this feature, the Print Job Management option shows in the menu drop-down under the Pull Printing or Mobile Printing tab.

To access the Release Portal select the Print Job Management option from the menu drop-down. You can also add "/release" to the end of the Self-service Portal URL. The Release Portal displays all your held jobs. Delete or release held jobs by selecting the box next to the job, and click the Release or Delete button below the held jobs list.
